Obituary for Professor Antonio Fea
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Professor Antonio Fea, a deeply valued member of the European Glaucoma Society (EGS) for many decades.
Antonio was not only an outstanding colleague but also a dear friend to many. He will be remembered for his warmth, infectious sense of humour, and the joyful energy he brought to every gathering. Below we publish his obituary written by his friend and colleague Professor Ugo de Sanctis.

A Remembrance by Professor Ugo de Sanctis

Professor Antonio Maria Fea has passed away prematurely. I was fortunate to meet him during my training in ophthalmology and to share with him a professional and personal journey spanning more than thirty years at the Ophthalmology Clinic of the University of Turin.
As a young doctor Antonio displayed an extraordinary passion for medicine, a profound dedication to research and an insatiable scientific curiosity—initially focused on neuro-ophthalmology and later on glaucoma. He authored more than 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals and was an active member of the leading national and international scientific societies devoted to glaucoma.
Glaucoma surgery was one of his greatest professional passions, and in this field he was a true pioneer of minimally invasive techniques. His professional expertise, combined with his profound humanity, generosity, and consideration for others, made him over the years a point of reference for many colleagues and patients—not only in Turin and Piedmont, but far beyond.
Dear Antonio, after more than thirty years of shared medicine, work, experiences, and life, it is difficult to find the words with which to bid you farewell. Your sudden passing has left an immense void. Yet what remains is the affection, esteem, and gratitude of all those who had the privilege of knowing you—for who you were and for all that you gave to others. I am writing these words as I look out over the blue sea, that same vastness you loved so deeply and that, tragically, carried you away.
I will remember you as a colleague, a friend, and a companion on a long journey through medicine and life.
