European Glaucoma Society Fellowship Programme
The EGS Glaucoma Fellowship is a structured training program in the subspecialty of Glaucoma, involving clinical management and encouraging research activities.

The duration is one year (but in certain instances may be extended to two years). It is understood that fellowship applicants must have successfully completed their ophthalmology training, be proficient in modern cataract surgery and fluent in the language spoken in the chosen Glaucoma Center. Funds will be provided by the EGS and will help sustain single student-style living expenses.

The Glaucoma Centers so far willing to accept an observer or a fellow as a trainee are:

  • Moorfields Eye Hospital, London (Roger Hitchings)
  • Western Eye Hospital, London
  • University of Wurzburg, Germany (Franz Grehn)
  • University of Munich, Germany
  • Institut du Glaucome de Paris (Yves Lachkar)
  • Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Fotis Topouzis)
  • University of Aberdeen, Scotland (Augusto Azuara-Blanco)
  • University of Leuven, Belgium (Ingeborg Stalmans)
