Exfoliation SIG Mission and Strategy
Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we would like to let you know that the European Exfoliation Group (EEG), a special interest group (SIG) under the academic umbrella of the EGS, invites European ophthalmologists with interest in exfoliative (exfoliative) glaucoma to join the group for better understanding of this frequent and severe disease.

The aim of the EEG is to provide a forum for dedicated European researchers who are interested in this condition. The EEG is open to all Europeans and aims, like other EGS special interest groups, to stimulate the highest level of academic discussions and collaboration. Our aim is to keep the EEG meetings focused and allow ample time for discussions in contrast to the larger, more general events during other European meetings, where there is generally little time to explore issues in depth. The EEG meetings are planned to inspire novel research and collaboration in a range of clinical and basic science topics. The target group invited comprises glaucoma experts, scientists and PhD students with a special interest in exfoliation syndrome and exfoliative glaucoma. Our first meeting took place at the 1st EEG meeting in Berlin on Friday 5th of June 2008, and the second meeting connection to the 9th Congress of European Glaucoma Society, Madrid is planned for September 2010.

On behalf of the EEG Group we are delighted to invite all of European ophthalmologists with interest in exfoliation to join EEG.

Sincerely yours,
